A lot has happened since our last update, and it’s exciting to see what the Lord has been doing! After our graduation from Baptist Bible Translators Institute in May, we took a short vacation to celebrate our anniversary (it’s already been a year!) and then packed up our house and headed to Missouri. As our sending church is in northeast Missouri, that is our home area while we are traveling for deputation. Our deputation journey started with a meeting in Pennsylvania, and throughout June we had meetings in North Carolina, then went to Illinois, and back to North Carolina. We had some great meetings, including a week of camp where we greatly enjoyed interacting with both juniors and teens. We began July by traveling back to Missouri for a week of VBS at our home church, the First Baptist Church of Wayland, MO. This was a very busy week for us, as I (Nathan) preached to the kids four times and headed up the outdoor game time all week, and Hannah taught the kids some good songs, including some in French. It was an exciting week that we greatly enjoyed, and the Lord worked in a great way; a total of seven children made decisions either to accept Christ or to get assurance of their salvation! After the week of VBS, Hannah and Daniel left for Côte d'Ivoire to be with her sister for the birth of her baby, due at the end of this month. God provided through answered prayer and someone who wanted to finance the trip so Hannah could be with her sister during this special time. We had a couple weeks open in our schedule, so it worked out for Hannah to be with her family and for me to stay at home and work and spend some extra time with my family before we leave for the field. Hannah’s niece was born on July 25th, a healthy little baby girl! Pray for safety for Hannah and Daniel while they are there and safe travels as they return to the States at the beginning of August. The Lord has been providing greatly for us, and it is so exciting to see our support come in! Some of our support is in monthly commitments, and some is in lump sums contributed toward our trip, but in total, the Lord has provided about 70% of our short-term support! As we watch God provide, we find it proven over and over that “He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.” We are well on track to be heading to Côte d’Ivoire by Thanksgiving of this year, and that time is quickly approaching! Thank you all so much for your prayers and support! I pray that the Lord will greatly bless you in return for the blessing you are to us! In Christ, Nathan, Hannah and Daniel Schrock Hello from the Schrock family!
I hope this update letter finds you doing well! For those of you who don’t know, we are currently students at Baptist Bible Translators Institute (BBTI) in Bowie, TX. Bowie is about an hour north of the Dallas – Fort Worth Area. BBTI is a missionary training institute specifically designed to teach linguistics. This is the study of how languages work, everything from the sounds that different languages use to the various ways in which they are structured. The purpose of this training is not to teach one language, but to give missionaries the tools necessary to learn any language anywhere in the world, especially where there is no language school to go to. We will be finishing school here on May 18, after which we will be headed on deputation. We are very thankful for the training we’ve gotten at BBTI, and we anticipate it being very helpful on the field. We have enjoyed many things about being in Texas, not least of which is the loving church family that we have become a temporary part of, Immanuel Baptist Church in Decatur, TX. The greatest of our blessings in the last few months has been the birth of our son, Daniel Jonah Schrock! It is a tremendous blessing to see God bless through the process of pregnancy and delivery of a new life. Daniel was a big boy when he was born, and he has continued growing since. He is now 2 months old, and is approaching 14lbs. I would appreciate your prayers as I am working on scheduling our deputation. We hope to fill our schedule with deputation meetings through the summer and fall, and be ready to head to Africa for our short-term by November. Thank you so much for your prayers for our family and ministry! Please continue to pray for us as well as for the people of Côte d’Ivoire. God Bless, Nathan, Hannah, and Daniel Schrock Click this link for a printable version of this update: www.dropbox.com/s/93qg0197ybqyyn3/Update%205.19.pdf?dl=0 |
