Reaching the Ivory Coast for the Lord. |
27 million people

The home of more than 27 million people.
Côte d'Ivoire, or the Ivory Coast, is on the Southern edge of West Africa. A country approximately the size of the state of New Mexico, its position just 310 miles from the Equator gives it a hot and humid tropical climate. It got its name from the ivory trade that began there centuries ago. The ivory trade is now illegal, but the country produces and exports coffee, cocoa, rubber, and petroleum.
Côte d'Ivoire gained its independence from France in 1960, but the national language is still French. However, there are about seventy native languages spoken throughout the country.
Religiously, Côte d'Ivoire is very diverse:
40% Muslim
26% False "Christian" denominations
20% Roman Catholic
14% Mixture of Native African religions
The people themselves are extremely friendly and receptive - always willing to talk. The country is truly open with religious freedom and easy access for missionaries.
The doors are open for someone to reach these millions of people for Christ!
